Verified Material Grade
SS 304 or SS 316 and SS 316L on the chamber interior, shelves and trays, backed by mill test certificates issued in your company name.
Mecha Engineering builds GMP model vacuum tray dryers at its Saharanpur works and installs them at pharmaceutical, herbal, chemical and food units across Maharashtra. Hollow heating shelves, leak proof chamber, full vacuum and gentle drying for heat sensitive and hygroscopic material.
Maharashtra runs more solvent wet drying than any other state, and that is exactly the duty a vacuum tray dryer is built for. API and intermediate plants in the Tarapur, Boisar and Mahad MIDC belts finish batches wet with methanol, toluene or IPA that have to be condensed and recovered rather than blown off. Formulation and nutraceutical units around Pune, Chakan and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar dry granules and standardised extracts that lose assay above 60 degrees. Spice oleoresin, flavour and natural colour plants near Nashik, Sangli and Jalgaon buy the same machine to protect aroma and colour grade.
As a vacuum tray dryer manufacturer supplying Maharashtra, Mecha Engineering builds the chamber around your product rather than around a catalogue number. The dryer uses specially designed hollow shelves through which steam or hot water circulates smoothly, so heat passes into the tray by contact instead of by air movement. Under vacuum the boiling point of the moisture drops sharply, which is what lets a delicate product dry faster and at a far lower temperature. Fabrication, polishing, leak testing and trial runs all happen at our own Saharanpur works before the dryer is loaded for Maharashtra.
These are the points Maharashtra buyers check before releasing a purchase order, so we put them in writing rather than in a brochure line.
SS 304 or SS 316 and SS 316L on the chamber interior, shelves and trays, backed by mill test certificates issued in your company name.
Chamber, door and every nozzle are leak tested at our Saharanpur shop. The vacuum hold figure goes into your test report before dispatch.
Erection, utility tie-in, vacuum pump and condenser piping, commissioning and operator training at your Maharashtra site, covered in the supply scope.
You buy from the fabricator, not a trading house. No dealer margin, and any design change is quoted against actual material and labour.
Every feature below protects one of two things: the quality of the product on the tray, or the hours your operator spends loading and unloading it.
Hollow pad type shelves are designed for uniform circulation of steam or hot water, so heat reaches every tray at the same rate and the batch dries evenly from the front row to the back.
Pulling the chamber down drops the boiling point of the moisture, so a heat sensitive product dries at a far lower temperature and the cycle still finishes quicker than an air oven.
Heavy duty door with a high quality gasket seal, machined door frame and reinforced shell. The chamber holds its vacuum instead of making the pump work for the whole shift.
Shelves are fabricated and levelled so the tray sits flat on the pad. Contact area is what moves the heat here, and a warped shelf is what causes a wet patch in the middle of a tray.
Tray guides, a full width door and comfortable shelf spacing let one operator charge and discharge the dryer with minimal manual handling and no tipping at the edge.
Shell and tube condenser with receiver and vacuum trap where you dry off ethanol, methanol or IPA. Solvent is collected as condensate rather than passing through the pump.
Pick the model that matches your batch, or send your product name and wet cake weight and we will tell you which of these fits.
Pilot and R and D duty for formulation development labs and QC departments. Single door, electric or hot water heating, small footprint that fits an existing lab bay.

Scroll the table sideways on a mobile screen. Send your product name, wet cake weight per batch and the solvent involved and we will fill this sheet in against your process.
Tray count follows batch weight, and batch weight follows the bulk density of your wet cake. This is the shortlist we work through with a Maharashtra buyer on the first call.
| Model | Indicative wet load per batch | Heating media usually chosen | Typical Maharashtra application |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 Tray | Around 10 to 15 kg | Electric or hot water | R and D and QC laboratories in Pune and Navi Mumbai |
| 12 Tray | Around 25 to 30 kg | Hot water | Pilot scale and small batch extract units at Nashik and Ahmednagar |
| 24 Tray | Around 50 to 60 kg | Steam or hot water | Ayurvedic and nutraceutical production around Nashik, Sangli and Kolhapur |
| 48 Tray | Around 100 to 120 kg | Steam | API and intermediate drying at Tarapur, Mahad and Lote Parshuram MIDC |
| 96 Tray, double door | Around 200 to 250 kg | Steam with a header on both faces | Bulk chemical, food and contract manufacturing at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Chakan |
| Custom build | Quoted to your figure | Steam, thermic fluid or electric | Line matching, retrofit and non-standard tray sizes |
Loads above are indicative only. Actual capacity depends on your bulk density and the cake thickness you can spread on a tray, so share a sample figure and we will confirm the model against it.
Six stages from wet cake to dry powder. Your operator sees the same sequence on every batch, which is what keeps the moisture figure consistent.
Wet cake is spread on the trays to an even thickness and the trays are slid onto the heating shelves through the front door.
The door is closed against its gasket and the vacuum pump pulls the chamber down to the set level before heating begins.
Steam or hot water circulates through the hollow shelves. Heat passes by contact into the tray, so there is no air blast on the product.
Under vacuum the moisture boils off well below its normal point, so the product dries quickly without thermal damage.
Vapour passes into the condenser, is cooled and collects in the receiver. A vacuum trap keeps any carry over out of the pump.
Vacuum is broken through a filtered air line, the door is opened and trays are drawn out for milling, sifting or packing.
Drying of solvent wet cake, intermediates, granules and bulk drug powder where residual solvent has to be condensed and recovered rather than vented.
Soft extracts, kwath concentrates, oleoresins and shilajit dried gently so that marker compounds and colour survive the cycle.
Vitamin blends, probiotic and enzyme carriers and standardised extract powders that cannot see high temperature or open air.
Dyes, pigments, catalysts and crystalline chemicals that are hygroscopic, oxygen sensitive or prone to degrading in a hot air oven.
Flavour powders, natural colours, spice oleoresins and heat sensitive food ingredients where aroma retention decides the grade.
Multi-product units switching materials weekly, so they buy for quick changeover, easy cleaning and third party audit readiness.

Mecha Engineering Pvt. Ltd. designs and fabricates vacuum tray dryers at its own works at Village Meharbani on Behat Road, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The company was set up in 2022 and supplies drying, extraction, blending and process equipment to pharmaceutical, herbal, chemical, food and cosmetic units across Maharashtra, the rest of India and export markets. You buy from the fabricator, not from a trading house.
Standard models run at 6, 12, 24, 48 and 96 trays, and non-standard tray counts are built where a batch size falls between two models. Tell us the wet cake weight you want to dry in one batch and the thickness you can spread on a tray, and we work backwards to the tray count, shelf area and chamber size.
Two ways. Heat comes in by contact through the hollow shelves rather than by hot air blowing across the product, and the vacuum inside the chamber lowers the boiling point of the moisture so it leaves at a much lower temperature. Together they let a delicate herbal extract or API intermediate dry fully without the thermal degradation an air oven would cause.
The standard build uses SS 304 for the chamber interior, shelves and trays. SS 316 and SS 316L are used where the product or solvent is corrosive, or where a pharma audit requires it. Mill test certificates for every plate and pipe are issued in your company name and handed over with the dryer along with the GA drawing and test report.
If your cake is only water wet, a condenser is often skipped to save cost. If it carries ethanol, methanol, IPA, acetone or any other solvent, order the condenser, receiver, cooling coil and vacuum trap. It recovers the solvent as condensate, keeps vapour out of the vacuum pump and stops you venting solvent into the shed.
Steam and hot water are the usual choice and cover most Maharashtra installations, since almost every MIDC unit already has a boiler on the floor. Thermic fluid is used where a higher shelf temperature is needed, and electric heating is offered on 6 and 12 tray lab models. Tell us the utility you already have and we build the shelf circuit around it.
Erection, utility tie-in, vacuum pump and condenser piping, leak check, first product batch and operator training at your Maharashtra site are part of the supply scope. Our commissioning engineers travel from Saharanpur and stay on site until the first batch is signed off, so the visit is planned as one continuous trip rather than repeated short calls.
Standard handover covers the general arrangement drawing, material of construction certificates, vacuum and leak test reports, weld and polish records, the operating and maintenance manual and a spare parts list. DQ, IQ and OQ protocols, along with a validation document set, are prepared on request for GMP and export buyers.
Standard 6 to 48 tray models are built in 4 to 8 weeks from order confirmation and a 96 tray double door or fully automated unit takes 8 to 10 weeks. Road transit from Saharanpur to Maharashtra adds roughly 3 to 4 days. Freight is quoted at actual cost, and for larger chambers we arrange the trailer, route survey and unloading crane along with the dispatch.
