Sparkler Filter Press in Zimbabwe

Almost every liquid processing line in Zimbabwe ends at the same problem: the batch is made, but it is not clear. Pharmaceutical and health product plants in Harare and Bulawayo, herbal remedy and extract makers working with zumbani, moringa and baobab, cordial, juice and distillery lines around Harare, Chitungwiza and Norton, sugar syrup at Chiredzi and Triangle, honey packers in Manicaland and the Honde Valley, edible oil refiners and the paint and ink houses of Harare all need the same operation done properly.

A sparkler filter press does that in one closed, leak-proof pass. Buyers searching for a sparkler filter press manufacturer in Zimbabwe are usually choosing between an importing agent and the works that actually builds the machine. Mecha Engineering is the works. We start from your liquid, its viscosity, its solid load and the clarity your buyer specifies, then fix the plate diameter, the number of plates, the filter media and the pump around it. Plate machining, shell rolling, polishing and the water trial all happen under one roof at our Saharanpur works in India.

  • Built for your site conditions. A 415 V, 50 Hz three phase pump and motor that matches Zimbabwean site power, with a steam or hot water jacket where the liquid has to stay warm.
  • Engineers who travel. Positioning, piping tie-in, the first trial filtration and operator training happen on your floor, with remote support for the maintenance team afterwards.
  • Audit ready paperwork. MOC certificates, GA drawings, hydro test reports and IQ or OQ documents travel with the machine for MCAZ, GMP and export buyer audits.
  • A consumables kit in the crate. Gaskets, interlocking cups, perforated screens and a starting stock of filter media are packed with the machine, so the first few cycles do not wait on a fresh shipment.

Build features

Features of Mecha Engineering Sparkler Filter Presses:

Every feature below exists to protect one of two things: the clarity of your filtrate, or the product you would otherwise lose in the machine.

01

Robust Stainless Steel Construction

Shell, dish end, plates and cartridge assembly are built from SS 304, SS 316 or SS 316L. The machine stands up to acidic syrups, solvents and hot liquids instead of pitting after one season.

02

Genuinely Clear Filtration

Horizontal plates with filter media, perforated screens and interlocking cups hold the cake in place and let only clear filtrate through the central channel. With filter aid, particles down to about 1 micron are retained.

03

Cake Stays on the Plate

Because plates sit horizontally, the cake does not slip off when the pump stops. Thickness stays even across the stack, so recovery per cycle is higher and the cake lifts out cleanly at changeover.

04

Zero Hold-Up Option

A reverse flow or zero hold-up cartridge pushes the residual liquid out at the end of the cycle. For high value pharma, herbal extract and essential oil batches this is the difference between recovering the last litres and mopping them up.

05

Compact, Mobile and Easy to Clean

Pump, piping and filter are mounted on one SS clad base with castors, so the unit rolls between rooms. The bolted top cover opens for a full plate-by-plate clean, which matters when you switch products weekly.

06

Plate Count Sized to Your Batch

The same shell takes a different number of plates, so filter area is matched to your throughput rather than sold as a fixed model. Scavenger arrangement, jacketed plates and a flameproof motor are all available.

How the machine runs

The Filtration Cycle, Step by Step

Six stages from cloudy feed to clear filtrate. Your operator sees the same sequence on every batch, which is what keeps the output consistent.

01

Cartridge Assembly

Filter media is laid on the perforated screens, plates and interlocking cups are stacked in order and the top cover is bolted down against the gasket.

02

Feeding Under Pressure

The pump sends unfiltered liquid into the central channel from the bottom of the shell. The air vent on top is opened until the machine fills, then closed.

03

Separation at the Media

Suspended solids are held on the media resting on each plate. Clear filtrate passes through the peripheral holes into the tank and out at the outlet.

04

Watching the Gauge

The inlet pressure gauge rises as the cake builds. When it reaches the set limit, the cycle has reached its holding capacity and the feed is stopped.

05

Scavenging and Draining

Compressed air or the scavenger line clears the liquid left in the shell. On a zero hold-up unit, reverse flow recovers the residual batch almost completely.

06

Cake Removal and Cleaning

The cover is opened, plates are lifted out, cake is scraped off and the media is changed. The shell is washed down and the machine is ready for the next cycle.

Where these machines are used

Questions we are asked

Sparkler Filter Press in Zimbabwe: FAQs

Straight answers to what Zimbabwean buyers ask before placing an order.

Who manufactures sparkler filter presses for Zimbabwe?

Mecha Engineering Pvt. Ltd. designs and fabricates sparkler filter presses at its own works at Village Meharbani on Behat Road, Saharanpur, India. The company was set up in 2022 and supplies filtration, extraction, distillation, drying and process equipment to pharmaceutical, herbal, chemical, beverage, food and cosmetic units in Zimbabwe, across India and in other export markets.

How does a sparkler filter press actually work?

Unfiltered liquid is pumped under positive pressure into the central channel of the cartridge from the bottom of the shell. Suspended particles are held on the filter media resting on each horizontal plate, while clear filtrate passes out through the peripheral holes into the tank and leaves at the bottom outlet. Because the shell wall never contacts the unfiltered liquid, it stays clean through the cycle.

What plate sizes and capacities can you supply?

Standard plate diameters are 8, 14, 18, 24 and 33 inch, with 4 to 33 plates depending on the model and the shell height. Indicative output runs from around 100 litres per hour on a small 8 inch pilot unit to roughly 20,000 litres per hour on a fully loaded 33 inch machine. Actual throughput depends on your liquid viscosity, solid load and media, so tell us the litres you filter per shift and we work backwards to the plate size.

What is the difference between a standard and a zero hold-up model?

A standard sparkler filter leaves some liquid inside the shell at the end of the cycle, which is acceptable for water based and low cost liquids. A zero hold-up or reverse flow model uses a modified cartridge and piping to push that residual liquid out, so recovery is close to complete. Pharmaceutical, herbal extract and essential oil buyers usually choose the zero hold-up build because the product left behind costs more than the price difference.

Which material grade do you use, and can I get certificates?

The standard build uses SS 304 for the shell, plates, screens and interlocking cups. SS 316 and SS 316L are used where the liquid is corrosive or where a regulated audit requires it, and a common GMP arrangement is SS 316 on all contact parts with SS 304 on non-contact parts. Mill test certificates for every plate and pipe are issued in your company name and shipped with the machine along with the GA drawing and test report.

Can it handle hot and viscous liquids like honey, cooking oil or thick syrup?

Yes, with a jacketed shell. Steam or hot water in the jacket keeps the liquid at working temperature so it does not thicken and choke the media midway through the cycle. This is the normal build for honey packers in Manicaland and the Honde Valley, cooking oil and fat processors, and the sugar syrup lines at Chiredzi and Triangle, usually paired with a gear or lobe pump rather than a centrifugal one.

What filter media should I use, and how often is it changed?

Filter paper suits fine polishing, filter cloth handles heavier solid loads, and SS wire mesh, cellulose pads or PP media are used where the liquid or the cleaning cycle demands it. Media is changed when the inlet pressure gauge reaches the set limit, which is the signal that the cake has filled the plate. A starting stock of media is packed with the machine, and we quote a yearly requirement so you can order it with the consignment rather than piecemeal.

Will the machine run on Zimbabwean power and utilities?

Yes. The pump motor is wired for a 415 V, 50 Hz three phase supply, which matches Zimbabwean site power, and a flameproof motor and starter are fitted where the filtration is on ethanol or another flammable liquid. A jacketed shell runs on low pressure steam or hot water from whatever you already have on site.

Is installation and commissioning included for Zimbabwe sites?

Positioning, piping tie-in, pump and panel wiring, water trial, the first product batch and operator training at your Zimbabwe site are quoted inside the supply scope. Our engineers travel for commissioning and back your team afterwards with drawings, video support and a planned consumables schedule. Because the machine arrives on its own castor base, positioning is straightforward.

What documentation is provided for MCAZ, GMP or export audits?

Standard handover covers the general arrangement drawing, material of construction certificates, hydro and pressure test reports, weld and polish records, the operating and maintenance manual and a spare parts list. DQ, IQ and OQ protocols, along with a validation document set, are prepared on request for regulated and export buyers.

How long does delivery take, and how is the machine shipped?

Standard 8 to 18 inch units are ready in 2 to 4 weeks from order confirmation. Larger 24 and 33 inch machines, jacketed shells and flameproof builds take 5 to 6 weeks. Allow a further 4 to 6 weeks for sea freight and inland haulage. The machine crates small enough to consolidate with other equipment in a shared container, which is worth planning if you are ordering more than one item.

How do I get a price, and do you quote CIF?
